The Canon - How We Got our Bible

    Sunday, April 23rd 1:15pm

Who wrote the Bible? Are there books that should have been included but were left out? How do we know the Bible is true? Can we really trust the Bible? And if the Bible is so old, how can we be sure that significant changes have not taken place? Is there really a Da Vinci Code?

    These are good questions.

By examining this subject from a historical, literary and theological perspective we soon begin to understand the Bible to be a special book. Join us as we learn how we got the Bible and how to defend the Canon.

Guest presenter: Pastor Glen Martin, from Journey of Faith Church in Manhattan Beach. Childcare must be reserved in advance! Please call the church office today to reserve childcare. (310-725-0855) Click here to view the flyer.

    In the News

    Gnostic Judas Picture
When the National Geographic Society announced the discovery of a lost gospel titled, “The Gospel of Judas,” the news coverage indicated that this event was the greatest discovery of the century. Some added that this gospel would rock many Christians and force a re-examination of our faith. So...what ARE the Christians saying? Check out Biola's web-article by Dr. Clinton Arnold so that you can be well-informed and able to answer others who may have questions. The article covers the basic facts of Gnosticism (an early offshoot from Christianity focusing on "secret knowledge") and the many gnostic gospels that exist, and also includes a link to the full text of the Judas gospel. [Editor's note: This is a GREAT article! Print it out and keep it handy.]

    Building Campaign News!

    April, 2006

The men of OCF have chopped up and carried away all the old asphalt from the parking area out front in preparation for the construction of the church's main double door and entry-way. (There is a solid concrete wall where there will soon be a double door, so we are expecting a "one-minute building update" DVD from Ron soon.)
